Couple Counselling

What brings couples to counselling

All couples experience periods when their relationship becomes strained for different reasons. It's when communication between you breaks down your defences can go up, differences and misunderstandings can become overwhelming, which in turn can create a distance between you as couple. During these times it can be hard to know what to do and difficult to listen to each other with understanding and an open mind.
If you focus on the picture above you may be able to see both sides of the picture, an image of a vase and the faces of two people facing each other. As individuals you may both have lost sight of both sides of the picture and not be able to see the other person's point of view.

Couple counselling can provide the space and time for you to focus and explore the challenges and difficulties that have arisen between you. Talking to a skilled counsellor can provide the opportunity to explore feelings that you both may have withheld for different reasons, which may include fear of failure, disrupting the relationship or hoping things will change in time.

Are you experiencing the following?

  • Constantly arguing, going over the same thing feeling nothing is resolved

  • Are you finding your arguments spiral out of control and one of you or both are verbally or physically abusive

  • Taking each other for granted and not making time for each other

  • Loss of interest in sex

  • An affair

  • Loss of income

  • Career change

  • Unsure whether you want to remain in the relationship

These are examples of some of the reasons couples seek counselling, there are many more, and you can always contact me if unsure and want more information.
